Michelle Shaker

Michelle joined the Friends of Kenyan Orphans Board in 2020.

She is a licensed social worker in the neuromuscular division at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.  She provides case management for adults with Muscular Dystrophy and ALS and runs young adult counseling groups.  Her counseling extends into her volunteer role at the Postpartum Depression Alliance of Illinois, supporting women as they transition to motherhood. 

She has significant governance experience from her role as project manager at Combined Jewish Philanthropies in Boston, managing board nominating and assisting with leadership development and C-level leadership functions.   

Michelle received a BA from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and an MSW from Loyola University in Chicago.
