PURITY and MERCY MARCH IN D.C.
On Saturday, April 29, students, workers, community organizations, environmental groups, faith groups and others from all over the U.S. came to Washington D.C. for the People’s Climate March. (Similar events were going on throughout the country at the same time.) This large-scale movement advocates for global action against climate change. Those in attendance were uniting to demonstrate for a clean energy economy that works for everyone. Students from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia joined the demonstrations. Actively promoting a better environment were former St. Clare graduates, Purity (Siena Heights) and Mercy (Chestnut Hill). The girls demonstrated along with thousands more and eventually joined up with each other. Social activism is extremely important on both campuses and both young women have been actively involved on their respective campuses.
