FROM MERU TO PHILADELPHIA
Chestnut Hill senior and St. Clare Centre graduate, Mercy Thuranira, recently addressed Chestnut Hill’s Global Studies students and faculty. In her talk, “From Meru to Philadelphia,” Mercy spoke about life in Meru, sharing her impressions of St. Clare, which she described as life-saving and fun. She also included her impressions of the U.S. She mentioned a few of her notable U.S. experiences: white water rafting, attending Deloitte University, and mission trips. Mercy is proud to begin her accounting career with Deloitte in Philadelphia this fall. She plans to become an ambassador for St. Clare, and looks forward to returning home to fulfill her dream of becoming an ambassador for young women living in marginalized societies.
Clearly, Mercy appreciates the fine Chestnut Hill education she has received plus she has absorbed the college spirit of caring for the ‘dear neighbor.’
Joined by Friends of Kenyan Orphans’ Board member and CHC grad, Sue Montgomery explained FOKO’s role in supporting the girls at St. Clare.
