BEING SECURE

St. Clare Centre for girls is home to over 375 girls.  As one of the better educational facilities in the district, security is a serious concern.  Al Shabab, an active terrorist group in Kenya, does not believe women should be educated.  They view women as property, equal to camels, mules, and cattle.  Clearly security is an important issue.  St Clare is surrounded by a battery-powered electric fence on top of a 10-foot wall.  Two security guards are on duty with two German shepherd dogs that keep watch all night long.
