ANNUAL IN AUTUMN
Opening the Saturday session of FOKO’s annual two-day board retreat, Mercy, a St. Clare graduate, spoke to the members via Skype. Sharing her experiences as a St. Clare pioneer, Mercy focused on the “early days” when there were no dormitories. As a result, the girls walked several miles daily to attend class. Food was eaten under the mango tree, as there was neither kitchen nor dining hall. Books were scarce and there was no library. It was wonderful for the board to hear first hand how life was initially and how FOKO and its donors have provided so much for St. Clare. Mercy expressed her gratitude over and over, speaking on behalf of all her younger sisters at St. Clare.
